Why should my charity use ‘activities’?
Activities are used to categorise fundraising activities under one name. For example, let’s say ‘Charity X’ is running a campaign with multiple Text Giving keywords. On their website, they are regularly updating their supporters on the success of the campaign. Before activities came along, they were having to record donations from each solution and manually add them up. Now, however, Charity X can group each of these elements into one ‘activity’, and easily see how much money has been raised across the whole campaign.
So what are the 5 top benefits of using activities?
1. Easily create multiple campaigns under one activity, on one platform
Using activities means you can group together different elements of your campaigns. For example, instead of using one platform for Text Giving and another one for a raffle, you could set up each of these elements all under one activity, on one platform.
2. Group income together, no more manually adding up
Having all these elements created under one activity allows you to filter your incoming donations by activity. Rather than having to monitor each element individually, you are able to quickly and easily see all the income from the campaign in one place. This removes the need to manually add up your income, and cuts down on the time required to pull income reports from different places.
3. Easily compare success of different elements of a campaign
By filtering your donations by activity, you can see side by side which elements of your campaign are performing best and bringing in the most income, and which elements might need more attention or work.
4. Maintain records of past campaign success, and compare campaign performance
By grouping activities together, you are able to look back at all past campaigns in one place, allowing you to keep track of what campaigns have been run. Wondering if £1 appeals have historically been successful? Or looking to see which campaigns over the past year have been the most successful? Filtering by activities allows you to evaluate the success of historic campaigns, compare what your most and least successful campaigns were, and how best to improve in the future.
5. Cut down on valuable fundraising time
Fundraisers are famously busy, and valuable time is often wasted in pulling reports and maintaining data records. Activities can help you and your team to keep up to date, informed, and able to pull helpful conclusions that can improve your fundraising and keep you doing your amazing work.
