The Andy Hey Memorial Fund

The Friends of Wildridings Primary School have pledged to raise £65k in memory of Andy Hey, a committed, well loved member of the community, who tragically suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

The Challenge

Tragic loss of Andy Hey

Andy Hey, who worked at Wildridings Primary school, was a vivacious member of the community – from coaching the football team, to helping out with swimming lessons! His friends and family wanted to create a legacy that would last long into the future, as a monument to Andy and what he meant to those around him.

The Solution

Leaving a legacy in his name

The campaign hopes to raise £65k to build an all-weather football pitch at Wildridings Primary school. Andy was a Queens Park Rangers season ticket holder, and QPR have teamed up with his friends and family to help them reach their goal! They have been spreading the word at matches, a bespoke video, and using Text Giving to make donating easier!

What the campaign delivered…

£1,323 through Text Giving

The campaign has so far raised over £1,323 through Text Giving!

£11,500 raised so far

Over £11,500 has been raised just through friends and family!

£65k goal

The team has pledged to raise £65k – no matter how long it takes, to build the pitch in Andy’s memory.

“QPR advised us to use a text to donate number as it wasn’t something we had previously thought about. It was incredibly easy to set up and removes many of the barriers people experience when donating via traditional fund raising. I have recommended text to donate to other charities that I work with..”
