Champion’s Church Christmas appeal

When lockdown hit and the Champion’s Church soup kitchen was forced to close, they took to the streets and delivered hundreds of meals to their beneficiaries.

The Challenge

Soup kitchen closed due to lockdown

Champion’s Church ran a soup kitchen for individuals affected by homelessness, which served between 70-80 people per meal.

When lockdown hit, and the soup kitchen had to be closed, they decided to deliver meals directly to their beneficiaries. They aimed to provide Christmas dinner and gifts, but knew this would require additional funding.

The Solution

Text Giving reached people at home

After some research, they discovered Donr, and set up a Text Giving campaign that would fund their Christmas dinner project. Supporters could text “CHRISTMASDINNER” to donate £5.

Thanks to their campaign, they were able to provide a cooked Christmas dinner, food produce, Christmas hamper, and presents for these vulnerable individuals.

“Text Giving is so simple to do. Everyone has a phone, so it’s easier to share as a call to action. There’s no exchange of cash, and it can be done whenever and wherever.”
