52 Lives raises thousands for teenage boy
52 Lives relies on its supporter base of over 100,000 people to raise money and change lives. Each week a different case is chosen, and 100% of proceeds go to supporting that individual.

The Challenge
Case 329 – A Teenage Boy
52 lives supporters one case each week. One particularly successful case was that of a teenage boy from the Midlands who has a terminal illness and was given less than a year to live.
The family are under a lot of financial strain, and want him to be able to enjoy the time he has left.
The Solution
A keyword for each case
52 Lives displayed the case on their website, signposting to their Text Giving option.
Supporters wishing to donate to case 329 could text ‘TEENAGER’ to their dedicated shortcode, and proceeds would go towards activities and days out for the young boy, as well as living expenses.
What was achieved…
£1,071 raised by 131 supporters
52 Lives and their supporters raised over one thousand pounds via Text Giving for this boy and his family, lifting financial pressure and allowing him to make the most of his time.
New keyword for each life
52 Lives create a new Text Giving keyword for each ‘life’ that they support. This allows easy donations to whichever case the supporter wants to donate to.
£3,677 total donations
In addition to Text Giving, which raised over one thousand pounds, an online giving page raised over two and a half thousand, raising the total amount raised to £3,677!
“Text Giving has been a great tool for us – it means our supporters can make a donation to our weekly ‘lives’ quickly and easily.”
