What do we do?

At Canongate Youth, our vision is for children and young people in Edinburgh and the Lothians to be healthy, happy and secure and to belong in their communities.

Since 1977 we have successfully provided support – including food, friendship and fun – for 5-25 year olds to help them overcome barriers and secure a great future.

Our speciality services include our play work, additional support for learning, and our employability training, amongst other programmes. All of our clubs focus on fun activities that help build skills, confidence and peer relationships.

Our Play Ranger service was the first in Edinburgh, and we continue to use play to encourage children’s emotional, social and physical development.

Following a cut to our funding, we are now raising money to continue our Under 12’s play groups, which so many children enjoy weekly at our Infirmary Street Centre.

Here at donr, we help UK charities to make the world a better place, one crowdfunding campaign at a time.

How? We work closely with all of our charity partners to create exciting, informative campaign pages which help them to raise the funds they need to change lives.

Just like other leading platforms, we take a small fee of 5% (plus card processing fees) per donation made. However, at donr, this fee gets charities so much more than a static page; our extensive service instead offers a skilled team who research, write, design, develop and even provide digital marketing assistance to launch the page.

We also offer supporters the option to donate via mobile billing, which carries no processing fees.

If you know a charity with a story to tell, please visit donr's website for more information.

Meet Sammy.

Last year, five-year-old Sammy started coming to our free weekly children’s clubs at Canongate.

These clubs welcome children from all walks of life.

This includes children who might be facing poor housing conditions, parental substance abuse, or even food poverty.

One day, we found Sammy crawling alone under the tables…

He was searching for extra food, as his mother depends on food banks to feed her children.

Stories like Sammy’s are not uncommon across our city.

Which is why we provide a space for children from any background to come together...

...and tackle challenges faced by playing, cooking, creating, and making brand new friends.

With help from our clubs, Sammy is now thriving. We continue to support both him and his family.

But sadly, we’ve just lost funding to run
our children's clubs.

So, we're asking for your help to keep running these clubs for children across Edinburgh.
